"S" is for Sorry - A to Z 2024 - Sweet Misery

The 2024 installment of the A to Z Challenge has come to an end and my aspirations to take part did as well, but long before April passed me by.

What was supposed to have been a slow month was anything but. I fully intended on making the rounds, while adding my own stamp on the challenge but it wasn't meant to be. Life got busier and when I had a moment to myself, I was too exhausted (mentally) to add anything here. For the few that chime in regularly, please accept my apology. I wanted to get this done and even more so, I wanted to support you in your journey as well.

For what it's worth, here is one last entry for the challenge, albeit late.

An Idiot's Guide to Randomness.

"Hope is such a sweet misery." - Hadiya Shaikh

A poem, written circa 1999.

Sweet Misery

One day my dear,
You will be in my arms,
Kissing on sandy shores.

At the moment, when moments heighten,
I will climb to you.
I will be present until my heart pumps dry.
I will protect you,
I will honor you,
I will serenade you and become one with your soul.

I will dedicate my name in your shadow.
My heart stops when yours does.
It flutters with the simple caress of your hand.

And while we know that this will not last,
I am yours, for now.

Forever is impossible.
Just another, sweet, sweet misery.
